Seizing an opportunity
You’ve got to risk it to see the reward, and that’s exactly what Carole Coombs did when she started Karacoo.art, a pet portraits business.
When the school where Carole was teaching closed down, she decided to take advantage of the opportunity and turn a long-time passion into a business.
Setting up in a cabin in her garden, Carole began drawing and painting pets and wildlife.
While she loved being able to spend her days drawing and painting, she found it difficult to teach herself how to run a business.
Like many small business owners starting up, Carole did not enjoy the administration aspect of being self-employed.
Although she loved the autonomy and independence of working for herself, setting up the foundations of her business was challenging.
Bookipi – easy to use and convenient
When her business began to grow and she needed to start sending invoices, Carole began Googling options.
After looking at a few, she chose Bookipi.
Bookipi has been a godsend for helping me with the organisation of my business. I liked the clear simple layout and the ease of use. It helps to keep me organised and the best bit is that I can do it from the app on my phone, so wherever I am, I can send invoices out.
Carole described being able to choose her own work hours and pop out from the studio whenever she likes as one of the best things about self-employment.
With Bookipi you can work wherever you go, with the ability to send invoices to customers in less than a minute.
Words of advice
Carole’s advice to other business owners is to get organised and get on top of admin, even if you don’t enjoy doing it.
As an artist, I just want to draw and experiment which is all very well but no use if I don’t keep organised. Bookipi had been brilliant for helping with that.
