Seizing an opportunity<\/b><\/h2>\n

You’ve got to risk it to see the reward, and that’s exactly what Carole Coombs did when she started Karacoo.art<\/a>, a pet portraits business. <\/p>\n

When the school where Carole was teaching closed down, she decided to take advantage of the opportunity and turn a long-time passion into a business. <\/p>\n

Setting up in a cabin in her garden, Carole began drawing and painting pets and wildlife.<\/p>\n

While she loved being able to spend her days drawing and painting, she found it difficult to teach herself how to run a business.<\/p>\n

Like many small business owners starting up, Carole did not enjoy the administration aspect of being self-employed.<\/p>\n

Although she loved the autonomy and independence of working for herself, setting up the foundations of her business was challenging. <\/p>\n

Words of advice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Carole\u2019s advice to other business owners is to get organised and get on top of admin, even if you don\u2019t enjoy doing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an artist, I just want to draw and experiment which is all very well but no use if I don\u2019t keep organised. Bookipi had been brilliant for helping with that.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
